Challenges: Improving Cloud Security & Leveraging Cloud Technology
An American multinational company wanted to improve cloud security and perform audit risk of their Google Cloud Platform. They wanted to analyze their current environment and document GCP services and data access patterns. They also required assistance regarding a “cloud first” future state architecture and strategy.
The Solution: Cloud Optimization, Future Cloud-First Plan
- Analyzed and documented the current architecture, data storage and access patterns, ETL pipelines, and data source integration
- Performed gap analysis to identify shortcomings and gave recommendations on future state cloud architecture, ETL pipelines, data model, tools & services and optimization
- Implemented Cloud Security best practices & processes to address Security and Audit concerns
- Integration of on-premise Active Directory with GCP IAM services for enabling single sign-on and authorization ID management
- Analysis of data feeds from vendors and how it should be processed it into a data lake through multiple layers to build reports in Tableau and ThoughtSpot
- Set up of SAP BW shipment and depletion data extracted into data lake to enable easy access through Tableau
- Restatement of data on the basis of calendar period or geographic location
- Reprocessed data due to vendor source system data not matching with Corporate data
- As per business user request, identified data issues and performed the necessary code changes along with testing and post business confirmation deploy to PROD. Also user provisioning on the basis of request raised
- Support for data loads during periodic activities like patching, maintenance / outages, upgrades and also taking care of certificate renewals
- Data validations and Tableau dashboard checks performed on regular intervals to keep data intact which help business users to get correct information all the time
- Year end cut over activities and all the communication with vendor, and source systems
