The Challenges
The customer (One of the world’s largest telecom operators in the UK) wanted to perform data warehouse migration of their Netezza environment to Google Cloud to reduce the operating costs and improve platform performance.
The team also wanted to eliminate problematic data siloing to optimize network efficiency.
Solutions
- Datametica started with detailed discovery and analysis of the existing NZ environment and their workloads with help from our automated assessment tool Eagle.
- After analysis, integration of source systems with GCP was executed. Loading of one-time historical data for the Use Cases tables to Google Cloud Platform was performed.
- Setting up a data pipeline for incremental data for in-scope use cases, up to BQ Stage / Transformation Layer; and loading of historical data to BQ Stage / TF Layer were also done.
- Raven – Automated Workload Conversion Tool to reduce time for code conversion of the SQL/Script.
- Pelican – Automated Data Validation Tool ensured 100 % accurate cell level validation between the source and target datasets in data quality testing.
